Food Recipes Healthy Easy Dinners Vegetarian Meal : EASY TERIYAKI TOFU

Ingredients

1 cup teriyaki sauce purchased at the store or my homemade teriyaki sauce

16 ounces of very hard tofu or high protein tofu
3 cups mixed vegetables
1/2 cup soy sauce or teriyaki marinade (for pickling) (or liquid Tamari or Bragg liquid for gluten-free)
2 tablespoons sesame oil (for frying)
4 cups cooked rice or noodles

Instructions

  1. Make homemade teriyaki sauce. (Skip this step if you are using a sauce purchased in a store).
  2. Drain and press hard tofu to extract as much excess water as possible.
  3. Cut the tofu into 1/2 inch cubes.
  4. Marinate tofu in soy sauce or teriyaki marinade for at least 15 minutes.
  5. Stir the tofu in 1 tablespoon of sesame oil over medium heat, often turning over until the tofu cubes become crispy on all sides.
  6. While preparing tofu, wash and chop about 3 cups of any vegetables that you want to add to the dish.
  7. Remove cooked tofu from the pan, add another 1 tablespoon of sesame oil.
  8. Fry vegetables for about 3-5 minutes over medium heat until they are cooked, but not soft.
  9. Add the tofu back to the pan with vegetables and sprinkle about 1 cup of teriyaki sauce.
  10. Stir well and serve over rice or noodles.

Recipe Notes

Professionals Tips:

  • Make sure to drain and push your tofu well.
  • After cooking, add the thickened teriyaki sauce so that it does not stick and does not burn the pan.
  • Marinate tofu for at least 15 minutes. You can marinate it a day or two in advance, but be sure to keep it in the refrigerator until ready to cook.
